Unleash Your Leadership Potential!  Step into an adventure-packed journey of teamwork, problem-solving, and hands-on leadership training while having a blast at Camp!

The Big Elk Creek Camp Leader In Training (LIT) Program provides a unique opportunity for aspiring leaders to develop the competence they need to lead.  Leaders ages 14-17 develop confidence, master outdoor challenges, and gain real experience as counselor apprentices, all while having an unforgettable summer of fun! 

Attending LIT Training Week comes with some awesome benefits. You’ll get a discounted rate of just $350 per week, priority in selecting your preferred weeks, and a much stronger chance of landing a future role on staff—either at Big Elk Creek or another YMCA camp. To complete the LIT Program, you’ll need to attend Training Week and two Challenge Weeks (resident camps where LITs support our counselor team). Want more camp time? You’re welcome to join us for additional weeks, too!

Description

 

Not sure about camp? Staying overnight scary? Don't want to stay away from home very long? Big Elk Creek has a 2 night 3 day resident camp experience for the first time camper.

​This camp has been especially designed for the younger first time camper—with their abilities and age group in mind.

 

They will have fun, make friends and develop lifelong memories at our camp while participating in adventurous events & activities.

Mini Camp is a great introduction to the resident camp experience.  Campers will have the chance to participate in many of the adventurous and fun camping activities offered during a regular week of resident camp.

Campers will try lots of great activities like the archery course, canoeing on the lake, swimming at the waterfront, games and much, much more!

Kids will sharpen their aim in archery, master wilderness survival with fire by friction and debris hut building, and express their creativity through crafts and Rags & Leathers projects.

Evenings bring magic with overnighter campouts, night hikes, and campfires, where campers share stories, songs, and skits while sipping on delicious hot chocolate. Every moment is an opportunity to learn, grow, and make unforgettable memories.
